Tow Truck Operator Struck and Killed on Interstate 10 in Colton

SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY -- A press release provided by the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Coroner Department indicated a tow truck driver was struck and killed on a freeway in Colton. The tow truck owner/operator of J&S Towing, 56-year-old Jesus Salcedo, of Colton, was in the process of towing a disabled vehicle at about 5 p.m. Friday, when he was hit by a Nissan Titan on the shoulder of westbound Interstate 10 and the La Cadena Drive on-ramp. Salcedo was then reported to have died following this devastating March 30th accident.

Cause of the I-10 Accident

Based on the information provided by the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Coroner Department, it is not evident what prompted this fatal car vs. pedestrian accident on Interstate 10. South Carolina Transient Killed in Colton on Interstate 10

I-10 at Pepper Ave - Colton.pngSAN BERNARDINO COUNTY -- A 21-year-old transient from South Carolina was struck and killed on a freeway in Colton, The Press-Enterprise reported. At 12:49 a.m. Friday, Jeffrey Scott Hemeke, was hit by a motorist as he attempted to cross the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 at the Pepper Avenue overpass. When authorities arrived on scene, Hemeke had already died due to his injuries. No reports were released regarding the information of the driver involved in the collision. The CHP is also investigating the incident to determine why this happened.

Woman Struck and Killed in Front of Colton High School

valleyboulevard-colton.jpgA 72-year-old Colton woman was tragically struck and killed Monday morning in front of Colton High School, the San Bernardino Sun reported. The fatal pedestrian accident occurred on Valley Boulevard, east of Rancho Boulevard, at 7:04 a.m. The victim, Phyllis Wilson, an employee at the school, was crossing Valley Boulevard on her way to work when a 1997 white Honda Civic struck her. Wilson was transported by ambulance to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center where she died.

Cause of the Accident

The cause of the fatal February 8th Colton pedestrian accident is under investigation by the Colton Police Department Traffic Division. Details provided by news accounts are somewhat limited, and it is unclear what exactly happened. This accident occurred in front of a high school, and in a school zone. Las Vegas Man Fatally Struck by Tractor Trailer in Colton

I-215.pngThe California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of a fatal accident involving a semi-truck on Interstate 215 in the city of Colton in San Bernardino County. The Inland Empire accident occurred at about 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 21st, north of the Washington Street on-ramp to the northbound 215 Freeway. The San Bernardino County Coroner's Office identified the victim as Marvyn Perez, 19, of Las Vegas. Following the accident, Perez was taken by ambulance to Loma Linda University Medical Center where he died.

Who was At Fault?

Based on the limited news reports of this tragic truck vs. pedestrian accident, it is not clear exactly how this accident occurred and who was at fault. Investigators will likely try to determine whether the victim walking along the side of the freeway, or whether he entered freeway traffic?
