One Killed, One Injured in Apple Valley Head-On Car Accident

SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY - One person was killed and another injured following a tragic car accident in Apple Valley. According to the San Bernardino County Sun, the driver of a Ford F-150 was driving the wrong way along the 15000 block of Apple Valley Road when it then struck a Toyota Highlander head-on. The fatal incident was reported Sunday afternoon around 2:40 p.m.

After the collision, the driver of the Ford, Brian Sweet, was airlifted to Loma Linda University Medical Center with unspecified injuries. The driver of the Toyota, whose identity was not released, was reported to have died at the scene.

It is unclear why the Ford F-150 driver was driving on the opposite side of the road and into oncoming traffic. It is also not evident whether he tried to prevent or avoid the collision. Apple Valley Car Accident Injures Two

SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY -- According to the Victorville Daily Press, a 75-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman are recovering at a hospital from their injuries they sustained in a head-on car accident. The terrible incident was reported at about 6:30 p.m. Friday in Apple Valley.

Authorities investigating the crash indicated the male driver was going south on Central Road when for unknown reasons he drifted into the female driver's path. The man and woman, whose names were not released, were both airlifted to trauma centers with serious injuries. The man sustained a broken neck and the woman suffered a possible broken leg.

Victorville Man Killed in Highway 18 Pedestrian Accident

CA18basshillroad.jpgAPPLE VALLEY - A 22-year-old Victorville man tragically died Sunday night after he was struck by several vehicles on Highway 18 in Apple Valley, the Victorville Daily Press reported. The fatal pedestrian accident was reported in the westbound lanes of Highway 18 near Bass Hill Road at about 10:45 p.m. on Sunday, February 5, 2012. According to news accounts, Devance Jerome Coleman was struck by several passing vehicles and died at the scene of the crash. A second man was reportedly injured and taken to a local hospital. It was unclear if the injured man had been walking with Coleman or if he was an occupant of one of the vehicles that struck Coleman.

Pedestrian Struck by Car in Apple Valley along Highway 18

SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY -- A 35-year-old pedestrian man was struck by an oncoming vehicle in Apple Valley, The Press-Enterprise reported. The accident occurred at about 11:12 p.m. Thursday along Highway 18 east of Apply Valley Road. According to the San Bernardino County sheriff's officials, 70-year-old Floyd Keeth was traveling west on the highway when he failed to see the dark-clothed pedestrian walking on the road. The pedestrian, Clifford Richardson, was taken to St. Mary's Medical Center and then was airlifted to a trauma unit for further treatment.

The accident on December 1st remains under investigation by the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department. Lawndale Man Struck and Killed on Interstate 15 in Apple Valley

I-15.pngSAN BERNARDINO COUNTY -- A 33-year-old Lawndale man who survived a solo-vehicle collision on Interstate 15 was subsequently struck and killed by another vehicle, the Press-Enterprise reported. According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner, the victim, Ariel Travieso, was northbound on I-15, about two miles north of Dale Evans Parkway, when his vehicle struck black ice and he lost control and struck the center divider. Travieso reportedly got out of his vehicle and was subsequently struck by another vehicle on I-15. He was rushed to St. Mary's Medical Center in Apple Valley, where he died at 9:35 p.m.

Cause of the Interstate 15 Crash

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol. It is likely that the ice in the road played a role in this crash, and that Travieso as well as the driver of the vehicle that ultimately struck him, were unaware of the present of the highly transparent thin layer of ice covering the road. It is unclear where in the roadway Travieso was when the other vehicle struck him. Based on the very limited information provided in news reports, it is unclear what exactly happened. Mira Loma Teen Killed in Pedestrian Accident on Highway 18 in Apple Valley

The San Bernardino Sheriff's Department is investigating the death of 17-year-old Deanae Weatherall, of Mira Loma, in a pedestrian accident Sunday evening (12-21-2009) on Highway 18 in Apple Valley. Weatherall had been walking with friends on the westbound side of the Happy Trails Hwy when she was struck by a Chevy Astro van at about 6:05 p.m. The accident occurred near Mana Road. She was taken by ambulance to Loma Linda University Medical Center where she died at about 8:30 p.m.

The driver of the Astro van, a 28-year-old woman, remained at the scene. Sheriff's officials did not believe the driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The cause of the fatal Apple Valley pedestrian accident is under investigation. Based on the facts reported in the San Bernardino Sun and by the San Bernardino County Coroner's press release, it is not clear who is at fault for this accident.
