Pedestrian Struck by Off-Duty Riverside Police Patrol Car
RIVERSIDE - A female pedestrian was seriously injured Sunday morning when she was struck by a police patrol car on Madison Street, the Southwest Riverside News Network reported today. The accident was reported at about 7:50 a.m. on May 13th. According to the news report, the off-duty officer was driving his marked patrol car northbound on Madison Street, when at the same time, the female pedestrian began crossing Emerald Street outside of the crosswalk. She was struck by the vehicle and suffered major injuries. Paramedics transported her to Riverside Community Hospital, where she was reportedly listed in critical condition.

RIVERSIDE COUNTY - A 63-year-old woman from Riverside died after she apparently fell from a sixth-floor balcony at a downtown assisted-living center, The Press-Enterprise reported. The accident happened at about 7 a.m. Sunday along the side yard of the Riverside Plymouth Tower Care and Living Center, which is located on the 3400 block of Lemon Street. Investigators are currently trying to determine whether the woman fell or jumped off the balcony. According to Southwest Riverside News Network, the woman identified as Marlee Brothers, died at the scene at 7:38 a.m.
RIVERSIDE COUNTY -- A 40-year-old tow-truck operator was struck be a hit-and-run driver on the 91 Freeway in Riverside, The Press-Enterprise reports. The accident happened at about 2 a.m. Saturday, when Christopher Tatro, of Corona, was hit by a tan sedan while he was assisting a disabled vehicle on the side of the freeway.
RIVERSIDE COUNTY -- Two Riverside teenagers were tragically killed Monday night in a solo-vehicle accident, The Press-Enterprise reports. The driver, Marcelo Rios, 19, was traveling at high speed along Jurupa Avenue east of Essex Street when he failed to negotiate a curve and lost control of the vehicle. Then, as Rios was unable to maintain control of the car, the vehicle overturned and struck a metal utility pole.
RIVERSIDE COUNTY -- A woman was struck and killed by a train in Riverside at about 7 p.m. Saturday, The Press-Enterprise reports. According to police officials, the woman, Susan Dibene, 33, of Riverside, was pushing her child in a stroller near the intersection of Mary and Indiana Streets when an oncoming Metrolink train en route from Oceanside to San Bernardino struck Dibene. Witnesses at scene indicated the wheels of the stroller apparently got stuck in the tracks and Dibene was able to push her 2-year-old daughter in the stroller to safety before she was hit.
