5-Year-Old Boy Dies Following Desert Hot Springs Accident

DESERT HOT SPRINGS - The Desert Sun reported that a 5-year-old boy who was gravely injured after being hit by a car Thursday night was taken off life support this weekend. The boy, who was not immediately identified by the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner, was crossing Palm Drive between Camino Campesino and Camino Aventura at about 8:45 p.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2011 . The boy was reportedly not wearing a helmet when he attempted to cross (east to west) ahead of his father and other friends and family, and was subsequently struck by a vehicle. The driver of the car stopped and cooperated with police. According to the Desert Sun, the driver was not suspected of speeding or driving under the influence.
