Victorville Man Killed in Highway 18 Pedestrian Accident
APPLE VALLEY - A 22-year-old Victorville man tragically died Sunday night after he was struck by several vehicles on Highway 18 in Apple Valley, the Victorville Daily Press reported. The fatal pedestrian accident was reported in the westbound lanes of Highway 18 near Bass Hill Road at about 10:45 p.m. on Sunday, February 5, 2012. According to news accounts, Devance Jerome Coleman was struck by several passing vehicles and died at the scene of the crash. A second man was reportedly injured and taken to a local hospital. It was unclear if the injured man had been walking with Coleman or if he was an occupant of one of the vehicles that struck Coleman.

UPLAND - The Inland Valley Daily Bulletin reported an elderly Upland gentleman tragically died Monday while crossing Euclid Avenue (State Route 83). The fatal pedestrian accident was reported at about 12:15 p.m. on Monday, January 30, 2012. According to news accounts, the victim, Owen Skousen, 83, was struck by a green 2005 Chrysler 300 at 17th Street and Euclid Avenue. Skousen was rushed to a nearby hospital where he tragically died of his injuries. The driver of the Chrysler, who was not identified, was not hurt in the collision.
RIVERSIDE COUNTY - At about 11:40 a.m. Tuesday, a mother and son were severely attacked by a dog in Moreno Valley. According to The Press-Enterprise, the woman was walking with her son, 6, while pushing a stroller with a younger child along Indian Avenue.
RIVERSIDE COUNTY - A two-vehicle collision in the city of Moreno Valley left six people injured this morning. The limited information provided by The Press-Enterprise indicated the crash occurred at the intersection of Alessandro Boulevard and Lasselle Street at about 10:58 a.m. Sunday. No other details were given regarding this horrible accident.
ORANGE COUNTY -- A 97-year-old pedestrian is suffering from life-threatening injuries after he was struck by a motorist in Garden Grove, Orange County Register reported. The pedestrian identified as Augustine Choi was crossing at a crosswalk at Brookhurst Street and Stanford Avenue around 12:30 p.m. Saturday. The driver of the vehicle, whose name was not released, immediately stopped after the collision to aid Choi. Following the accident, Choi was transported to UCI Medical Center in Orange for treatment of his injuries.
RIVERSIDE COUNTY - A Palm Springs two-car crash left eight people injured including two children Saturday morning, The Press-Enterprise reports. The collision occurred at about 11:05 a.m. on Highway 62 at Dillon Road. After the crash, two children sustain critical injuries, two other victims suffered moderate injuries, and the other four victims sustained minor injuries. All eight of them were taken to a hospital for further treatment. No other information was given on how this horrible accident occurred.
SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY -- A 60-year-old man suffered serious injures after he was struck by a car while riding his bicycle in the city of San Bernardino, The Press-Enterprise reports. The collision occurred before 5:30 a.m. Monday, when the bicyclist was hit by car while he was attempting to cross Waterman Avenue at 3rd Street.
RIVERSIDE COUNTY - A 62-year-old woman was seriously struck by a hit-and-run driver Wednesday night while she was attempting to cross a Moreno Valley street, The Press-Enterprise reported. The 6:15 p.m. accident took place at the intersection of Heacock Street and Kernwood Drive when the woman, whose name was not stated, was hit by a vehicle traveling north on Heacock. The woman suffered severe head injuries and broken bones after the collision.
LOS ANGELES -- According KTLA News, less than a dozen people were injured following a devastating crash in south Los Angeles. The accident happened around 7:40 p.m. Saturday when a driver in an El Camino traveling at "a high rate of speed" ran several stop lights, lost control, hit two vehicles at the intersection of W. 103rd and S. Main streets, and then jumped onto the sidewalk slamming into pedestrians. After this horrific crash, eleven people were injured and taken to a hospital for treatment. The extent of their injuries was not immediately available.
ORANGE COUNTY -- A 54-year-old man was tragically struck by a two vehicles in Garden Grove while he was attempting to cross the street. Garden Grove resident Gregory Martin was crossing West Street near Garden Grove Boulevard just before 7 p.m. when he was struck by a gray Dodge Magnum, and then struck and dragged about 750 feet by a white Ford Explorer.
Following the accident, the two occupants in the Toyota sustained minor injuries and was taken to St. Mary Medical Center. The driver of the SUV was not wearing a seat belt, which then caused her to be ejected from the vehicle and sustain head injuries. Authorities at the scene indicated four of the woman's passengers were seriously injured. Two people were airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center and two were taken to a local hospital for further treatment.
