Elderly Man Struck and Injured by Car in Garden Grove
ORANGE COUNTY -- A 97-year-old pedestrian is suffering from life-threatening injuries after he was struck by a motorist in Garden Grove, Orange County Register reported. The pedestrian identified as Augustine Choi was crossing at a crosswalk at Brookhurst Street and Stanford Avenue around 12:30 p.m. Saturday. The driver of the vehicle, whose name was not released, immediately stopped after the collision to aid Choi. Following the accident, Choi was transported to UCI Medical Center in Orange for treatment of his injuries.

SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY -- A 60-year-old woman was hit by a car at about 6:01 p.m. Monday in San Bernardino, The Press-Enterprise reported. The accident happened when the woman, whose name was not released, was struck by a vehicle while she was crossing at the intersection of East Lynwood Drive and North Mountain Avenue.
LOS ANGELES COUNTY -- According to KTLA News, two pedestrians were seriously hit by a car Tuesday in Los Angeles. Rabbi Samuel Jacobs, 59, and a Jewish activist Berish Landau, 88, were attempting to cross North La Brea Avenue at Oakwood Avenue when a 1999 Plymouth Voyager struck them. Both men were transported to Cedar-Sinai Medical Center, where Landau, later died due to his injuries. Updated information provided by the Los Angeles Times indicated that Rabbi Jacobs is in critical condition as of Wednesday.
RIVERSIDE COUNTY -- A 10-year-old girl was seriously injured in a pedestrian accident Friday morning, The Press-Enterprise reports. The collision occurred at about 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of 6th Street and Main Street. The girl, whose identity was not released, was walking at a crosswalk when she was struck by an oncoming eastbound vehicle. Following the accident, the girl was taken to Riverside Community Hospital and then transferred to Loma Linda University Medical Center for further treatment of her injuries.
SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY - KION Central Coast News reported two Grover Beach teenagers suffered major injuries Sunday night after being struck by a pickup truck at the intersection of Grand Avenue and 7th Street. The July 24th Grover Beach pedestrian accident was reported around 9:00 p.m. According to police reports, the 17-year-old and 18-year-old girls, who were not identified, were in a crosswalk when they were struck. They were taken to the hospital with serious injuries, including multiple bone fractures. The 19-year-old man driving the pickup truck that hit the girls was not injured.
TUSTIN - A 74-year-old Tustin woman was killed Monday morning after she was struck by a car and dragged for several blocks, the OC Register and multiple news outlets reported. The victim, identified by the Orange County Sheriff-Coroner as Berna Martinez, was crossing Red Hill Avenue at the bottom of the I-5 freeway offramp when she was hit by a Mercury Sable exiting the freeway. The driver, who apparently didn't realize what happened, continued for several blocks dragging the victim, until police stopped her as she pulled into a strip mall at Newport Avenue and Bryan Avenue. It was reportedly raining heavily when the incident occurred shortly after 11:30 a.m.
Police say a 69-year-old Long Beach woman was legally crossing Willow Street Saturday evening when she was struck and killed by a Honda Accord. According to the Long Beach Post, the victim, Sally Rae Paskin, was in an unmarked crosswalk at about 6:11 p.m. when she was struck by the Honda driven by Jose Rodriquez, 28, also of Long Beach. The accident happened between Long Beach Boulevard and Atlantic Avenue. Paskin was rushed by paramedics to a local hospital, where she died of her injuries.
