Elderly Man Struck and Injured by Car in Garden Grove

The pedestrian identified as Augustine Choi was crossing at a crosswalk at Brookhurst Street and Stanford Avenue around 12:30 p.m. Saturday. The driver of the vehicle, whose name was not released, immediately stopped after the collision to aid Choi. Following the accident, Choi was transported to UCI Medical Center in Orange for treatment of his injuries.

The accident happened when the woman, whose name was not released, was struck by a vehicle while she was crossing at the intersection of East Lynwood Drive and North Mountain Avenue.

Following the collision,the woman was taken to Loma Linda Medical Center where she later died from her injuries at about 7:15 p.m., and it was reported that the driver of the vehicle is cooperating with the San Bernardino police.

UPDATE: The Press-Enterprise reported on Wednesday that the woman who was tragically killed in this pedestrian accident was identified as Karen Lee Henthorn of San Bernardino.

Two Injured after being Struck by Car in Victorville

SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY -- A 17-year-old girl and a 2-year-old boy were severely struck by an oncoming vehicle at about 7 p.m. Tuesday, Victorville Daily Press reported. The teenage girl and the young child were hit by a car while they were attempting to cross 7th Street and Desert Knolls Drive in Victorville.

According to spokeswoman Karen Hunt of the Victorville station's Major Accident Investigation Team, the teenager and child were struck by a 62-year-old Moreno Valley man who did not see the girl pushing the boy in a stroller in the crosswalk when he made a left turn from Desert Knolls Drive onto 7th Street.

Following this tragic accident, the pedestrians were airlifted to Loma Linda Medical Center. The teen suffered cuts and scrapes, while the boy sustained a fractured skull. They are currently in stable condition, and their relationship between the two has not been determined.

Man Severely Killed in Cathedral City Pedestrian Accident

RIVERSIDE COUNTY -- A Cathedral City pedestrian man from was tragically hit and killed by a vehicle on Thanksgiving. According to The Desert Sun, the man, identified as Michael Hersha, 67, was attempting to cross at a crosswalk on Date Palm Drive at Market Place at about 6 a.m. Thursday, when a vehicle severely struck him. Sgt. Scott Sharpe of the Cathedral City police stated the driver tried to brake and turn, but could not avoid hitting Hersha. After the collision, Hersha was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center, where he later died due to his injuries.

ALHAMBRA - The Alhambra Source reported that Bo Feng, 17 of San Gabriel, a 2011 graduate of Gabrielino High with plans to attend San Diego State University, tragically died Monday night after being struck by a car Friday at the intersection of New Avenue and Shorb Street. Feng was transported to USC Medical Center with criticial injuries and later died. Although the incident was initially reported as a hit-and-run, the Alhambra Source reported the 73-year-old driver that struck Feng identified herself and is reportedly cooperating with investigators. WOODLAND HILLS - A 50-year-old woman tragically died Thursday morning, about 10 hours after she was struck by a car in a Woodland Hills Crosswalk, the Contra Costa Times reported. The fatal pedestrian accident occurred at the intersection of Victory Boulevard and Platt Avenue at about 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18, 2011. The victim, Adriana Bucklew, was crossing the street when she was struck by a 2002 Cadillac Escalade driven by Anais Garcia, 21, of West Hills. Garcia had been heading on eastbound on Victory Boulevard when she made a left turn onto Platt Avenue. Bucklew was taken to the hospital with critical injuries, where she died around 7 a.m.

The victim, identified by the Orange County Sheriff-Coroner as Berna Martinez, was crossing Red Hill Avenue at the bottom of the I-5 freeway offramp when she was hit by a Mercury Sable exiting the freeway. The driver, who apparently didn't realize what happened, continued for several blocks dragging the victim, until police stopped her as she pulled into a strip mall at Newport Avenue and Bryan Avenue. It was reportedly raining heavily when the incident occurred shortly after 11:30 a.m.

Cause of the Fatal Accident

Tustin Police are continuing to investigate the fatal March 21st incident. Police said the driver of the Mercury, 79-year-old female resident of Aliso Viejo, was not facing any charges immediately. However, that could change pending the investigation. It is unclear why the driver did not stop when she first struck Martinez. It appears that Martinez was struck in a marked crosswalk, in which case the driver should have yielded to her right of way (under California Vehicle Code Section 21950).

ORANGE, CA - Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian accident Sunday night on Chapman Avenue, the Los Angeles Daily News reported. The accident occurred shortly after 11 p.m. on February 20, 2011 at Chapman Avenue and Citrus Street. The victim, Amelia Shields, 28, of Huntington Beach was crossing the street with her boyfriend and English bulldog puppy when she was struck by a Toyota Matrix driven by a 28-year-old Orange man, who was reportedly driving home from work. Shields died at the scene of the crash; her dog was not injured.

According to the Long Beach Post, the victim, Sally Rae Paskin, was in an unmarked crosswalk at about 6:11 p.m. when she was struck by the Honda driven by Jose Rodriquez, 28, also of Long Beach. The accident happened between Long Beach Boulevard and Atlantic Avenue. Paskin was rushed by paramedics to a local hospital, where she died of her injuries.
