Bicyclist Killed in Lake Forest Hit-and-Run Accident
ORANGE COUNTY - A 47-year-old bicyclist was struck by a hit-and-run driver on Tuesday in Lake Forest, KTLA News reported. The bicyclist, Randy Isaacs, was hit by a white minivan at about 10 p.m. at the intersection of Ridge Route Drive and Serrano Road. The driver of the minivan fled the scene of the accident, and Isaacs was taken to a hospital where he later died due to his injuries.
Cause of the Hit-and-Run Bicycle Accident in Lake Forest
Based on the information provided by news reports, it is unclear what caused the driver to hit the bicyclist. However, there is no excuse for fleeing the scene of an accident before the proper authorities arrive. Under the California Vehicle Code Section 20001(a): "The driver of a vehicle involved in an accident resulting in injury to a person, other than himself or herself, or in the death of a person shall immediately stop the vehicle at the scene of the accident."
