According to news reports, the cyclist, who was not identified, was crossing the intersection of Avalon Boulevard and Redondo Beach Boulevard at about 9:10 p.m. when he was "run down" by the driver of the BMW. Because of conflicting reports by witnesses, the CHP was not able to immediately determine whether the driver of the BMW or the bicyclist had the green light.
