Man Severely Struck and Killed by Cars in Burbank

Ventura Freeway near Bob Hope Dr.pngLOS ANGELES COUNTY -- A pedestrian was severely killed after being struck by several vehicles in Burbank. According to the Los Angeles Times, the pedestrian, whose identity was not released, was crossing the westbound lanes of the Ventura freeway near Bob Hope Drive when he was hit by multiple cars at about 5 a.m. Tuesday. Following this terrible collision, the pedestrian was reported to have died at the scene.

Cause of the Burbank Pedestrian Accident on Ventura Freeway

The accident on November 1st remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol. However, based on the limited information provided by the Los Angeles Times, it is unclear why the man was attempting to cross the freeway. Man Seriously Killed and Another Injured in Ventura Freeway Crash in Burbank

LOS ANGELES COUNTY -- According to the Los Angeles Times, a 55-year-old Long Beach man was struck and killed at about 10:45 p.m. Saturday. The man, identified as Donald Bishop, was walking back to his vehicle after changing a flat tire on his co-worker's Ford pickup truck when an oncoming vehicle traveling 65 mph on the far right lane of the 134 Freeway in Burbank struck Bishop and his Ford Aerostar. The severe impact of the collision caused the co-worker, Daniel Cukar, 55, to be hit by the flying debris. According to the police, the 27-year-old driver, whose name was not immediately available, was not intoxicated when the accident occurred.

Following the collision, Bishop was reported to have died at the scene, while, the 52-year-old Cerritos man sustained multiple cuts on his head and was taken to a Providence St. Joseph Medical Center for further treatment.

Cause of the October 1st Ventura Freeway Accident

Based on the limited information provided by the Los Angeles Times and ABC 7 News, it is not evident what caused the driver to veer towards the right shoulder of the freeway and crash into the pedestrian. Police reported that the driver was not driving under the influence, and therefore, the California Highway Patrol will continue to investigate and determine other possible factors that may have caused this collision.

Burbank Man Killed in Interstate 10 Motorcycle Crash

LOS ANGELES COUNTY - A 23-year-old Burbank man died Saturday afternoon after colliding into another motorcyclist on the westbound I-10, the Burbank Leader reported. According to the newspaper, Kevin Butcher was riding a Ducati motorcycle behind a 29-year-old North Hollywood man on a Honda motorcycle. Both bikes were travelling at high speeds in excess of 90 mph, according to CHP reports. At some point, Butcher, apparently not seeing traffic slowing ahead, struck the back of the Honda, ejecting both motorcyclists from their bikes. Butcher was taken to UCLA Medical Center, where he died of his injuries. The driver of the Honda motorcycle, who was not identified by CHP officials, sustained major injuries, and was also taken to UCLA Medical Center. He was also arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. The cause of the April 10th Interstate 10 motorcycle accident remains under investigation.

Pedestrian Dies After Being Struck in Burbank Crosswalk

BURBANK - The Burbank Leader reported 77-year-old Michael Barone died early Wednesday from serious head injuries he sustained when he was hit by a car Monday. The pedestrian accident occurred at 5:17 p.m. Monday at the intersection of West Victory Boulevard and Pepper Street, about one block from Barone's Home. Barone was struck by a 2001 Toyota Tacoma driven by Manny Castillo, 48, of Burbank. Castillo was making a left turn at the unsignaled intersection when he struck Barone. No charges have been filed against Castillo, who was not suspected of driving under the influence. Barone was taken to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, where he later died. The investigation into the cause of the fatal accident may take up to four weeks to complete, according to the Burbank Leader.
