One Killed in Beaumont Three-Car Wreck on Highway 60

RIVERSIDE COUNTY - A 51-year-old Perris man died from his injuries following a three-car wreck in Beaumont, The Press-Enterprise reported. The tragic collision happened at about 5:10 a.m. Saturday on eastbound Highway 60 and Western Knolls Road when two vehicles struck Asencion Placencia's truck. After the collision, Placencia was taken to Riverside County Regional Medical Center and then died at 9:35 p.m. Sunday. The occupants in the other vehicles sustained minor injuries and were transported to a hospital for further treatment.

Girl Struck and Killed by Car in Riverside on Highway 60

RIVERSIDE COUNTY -- A 12-year-old girl was struck and killed by a car Sunday night in the city of Riverside. This devastating Christmas Day accident happened at about 11 p.m. when the young girl, Eunice Flores of Riverside, was hit by a white Mercedes 200E sedan on westbound Highway 60, just east of Interstate 15.

According to Southwest Riverside News Network, Flores was trying to retrieve a suitcase containing clothes that apparently fell from the roof rack of the car she was a passenger of. After the collision, Flores was reported to have died at the scene of the accident.

Two Children Killed, Six People Injured in Highway 60 Rollover Accident In Glen Avon

GLEN AVON - Two children very tragically died Monday when a Mitsubishi Montero SUV loaded with eight passengers overturned on eastbound Highway 60, the Press-Enterprise reported. The vehicle was travelling from the Los Angeles area heading to a Fourth of July outing at Lake Perris when the vehicle overturned after an apparent tire blowout near Pyrite Street. According to news accounts, the vehicle overturned at about 9:45 a.m. Two children, ages 6 and 14, died at the scene of the crash. The six surviving passengers were transported to area hospitals with injuries ranging from minor to major. The CHP reported that only three passengers, including an infant in a child carrier, were properly seat belted. No one in the rear seat appeared to be wearing a seat belt.

Cause of the Highway 60 Accident

The CHP stated that the Montero SUV would be inspected and witnesses would be interviewed as part of their investigation. Officers at the scene ruled out alcohol to be a factor in the crash. It was reported that it appeared the driver slammed on the brakes and turned sharply after the tire blew out. It is unclear what caused the tire to blow out.

Motorcyclist Struck and Killed in Crash on Moreno Valley Freeway

moreno-valley-freeway.jpgA 59-year-old Moreno Valley man tragically died Saturday after a woman driving a sedan allegedly cut off his Harley-Davidson, throwing him off his bike. The fatal Riverside County motorcycle accident happened Saturday, August 28, 2010, at about 12:45 p.m. on westbound State Route 60, about 500 feet east of Day Street in Moreno Valley. The Desert Sun reported the driver of a 1999 Daewoo Leganza, Stephanie Clation, 38, was travelling in the fast lane and the motorcyclist, Albert Jackson Welch, 59, was travelling in the carpool lane. When traffic started to slow, Clation allegedly swerved into the carpool lane and into Welch's path. Welch reportedly braked, but was unable to avoid striking the bumper of Clation's vehicle, and was ejected from his bike. Welch was rushed to Riverside County Regional Medical Center where he died about an hour after the crash.

Cause of the Fatal 60 Freeway Motorcycle Crash

The California Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the cause of the fatal crash. However, if news reports are correct, it appears that the driver of the sedan is likely responsible for causing this fatal accident. A charge of misdemeanor manslaughter will be sought against Clation, the Valley News reported.

Man Seriously Injured After Box Truck Crashes Into Disabled Audi on 60 Freeway

CA-60.pngThe driver of a Audi A4 sedan suffered major injuries to his head, pelvis, and chest after a bobtail box truck crashed into his vehicle on Thursday on the 60 (Pomona) Freeway. According to news reports in the San Gabriel Valley Tribune, the Audi was stopped on the shoulder on the eastbound 60 Freeway at Nogales Street in Rowland Heights when the box truck veered into it, pushing it forward between 200 and 300 feet. The injured driver of the Audi, who was not identified, was taken to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center.

Cause of the July 22nd 60 Freeway Accident

The CHP is investigating the cause of the accident. Based on the news reports, it is not clear why the driver of the box truck veered into the Audi. In their investigation, the CHP will look at factors such as driver impairment, driver distraction, vehicle speed, and even possible mechanical malfunction. Eight People Injured After Minivan Burst Into Flames in Industry

Los Angeles county fire officials reported that six adults, a child and an infant suffered burn injuries ranging from minor to moderate when the minivan they were riding in burst into flames on the 60 Freeway (Pomona Freeway) in Industry.

It is not clear from news reports whether the minivan struck another vehicle and burst into flames, or if it burst into flames and then struck another vehicle. At least one other vehicle was involved in the accident, which was reported Monday morning shortly after 6:15 a.m. The incident occurred on westbound 60, near Azusa Avenue.

Vehicle fires are sometimes caused by defective vehicle parts. The make and model of the vehicle involved in this accident was not included in news reports.
