Bicyclist Injured in Crash on Imperial Highway
BREA - The Orange County Register reported a 60-year-old bicyclist was taken to UCI Medical Center after crashing his bicycle Monday morning in Brea. The April 4, 2011 bicycle accident occurred on Imperial Highway, just east of Associated Road, at about 9:40 a.m. According to news reports, no other vehicles were involved in the crash. The cause of the incident remains under investigation. It is unclear why this accident occurred; hopefully the investigation by the Brea Police Department will reveal exactly what happened and why.
Bicycle Accident Personal Injury Liability
Many bicycle accidents that are thought to be caused by rider error are actually caused by defects in the bicycles themselves. This year, a number of bicycle manufacturers have recalled bikes due to potential crash hazards, including REI, Felt Bicycles, Rocky Mountain Bicycles, and Salsa Cycles. If a defect in the bicycle caused the rider to crash, the manufacturer of the bicycle may be financially liable for the cyclist's injuries. Following a bicycle accident such as this Imperial Highway Crash, the injured victim or his family would be well-advised to contact a California bicycle accident lawyer who can arrange to have the bike inspected by a qualified expert.
