Victorville Car Accident Injures Six

SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY -- A rollover car crash in Victorville left six people injured, Victorville Daily Press reported. The accident occurred at about 4:15 p.m. Tuesday when the driver of an SUV lost control, rolled over several times, and then struck a Toyota on Village Drive near Air Expressway. Witnesses at the scene stated the female driver of the SUV was traveling at an extremely high rate of speed before she lost control of her vehicle.

Two people were airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center and two were taken to a local hospital for further treatment.

Two Teenagers Severely Killed in Riverside Car Crash

The driver, Marcelo Rios, 19, was traveling at high speed along Jurupa Avenue east of Essex Street when he failed to negotiate a curve and lost control of the vehicle. Then, as Rios was unable to maintain control of the car, the vehicle overturned and struck a metal utility pole.

After the crash, Rios was transported to Riverside Community Hospital where he later died due to his injuries. His 17-year-old passenger, whose name was not released, was reported to have died at the scene.

The collision occurred in Orange County at about 6:20 a.m. on State Route 73. The vehicles involved were a Lincoln limousine, an airport shuttle van, a Hyundai Tiburon, a Toyota Solara, and a Ford Explorer. The specificity of how the crash occurred was not immediately available. According to news reports, the SUV, carrying a family returning from a church service at the Crystal Cathedral, overturned when the driver lost control while exiting the Beach Boulevard offramp. Four passengers were ejected from the vehicle before it became engulfed in flames. The driver, a 41-year-old Downey woman, and a 16-year-old girl, were taken to UCI Medical Center. Three women, ages, 24, 30, and 49, died at the scene of the crash. None of the parties identities were immediately available.

According to a Riverside County Sheriff's news release, the single-vehicle accident occurred at 2:24 a.m. on Holland Road near Annas Lane. The truck was reportedly travelling at a high rate of speed when the 21-year-old Nuevo woman driving the vehicle lost control. The truck overturned and the driver, along with a 30-year-old Nuevo man and a24-year-old Canyon Lake woman, were injured. All three were taken to Inland Regional Medical Center for treatment. The cause of the Lake Elsinore car accident remains under investigation.

The 22-year-old driver of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. A female passenger was airlifted to University Medical Center in Las Vegas.

Woman and Child Killed in Interstate 15 Crash Near Nevada State Line

interstate15nipton.jpgSAN BERNARDINO COUNTY - A 50-year-old woman and an 11-year-old girl were both tragically killed Sunday night in an SUV rollover crash in Mountain Pass on Interstate 15, the San Bernardino Sun reported. The July 17th accident was reported at 10:18 p.m. on northbound I-15, north of Yates Well Road, west of Nipton, CA and south of Primm, NV. Paramedics found a silver 1999 Isuzu Rodeo had overturned into a ditch. The Sun reported two people died at the scene and the driver and two other passengers were taken to University Hospital in Las Vegas. The fast lane of I-15 was closed for five hours while CHP officers conducted an investigation.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner identified the victims as Patricia Vargas, 50, of Las Vegas, and Maria Lopez, 11, of Mexico. According to the press release, both victims were not wearing seat belts and were ejected from the vehicle when it overturned after the tread on one of the vehicle's tires separated, causing the driver to lose control.

Two Children Killed, Six People Injured in Highway 60 Rollover Accident In Glen Avon

GLEN AVON - Two children very tragically died Monday when a Mitsubishi Montero SUV loaded with eight passengers overturned on eastbound Highway 60, the Press-Enterprise reported. The vehicle was travelling from the Los Angeles area heading to a Fourth of July outing at Lake Perris when the vehicle overturned after an apparent tire blowout near Pyrite Street. According to news accounts, the vehicle overturned at about 9:45 a.m. Two children, ages 6 and 14, died at the scene of the crash. The six surviving passengers were transported to area hospitals with injuries ranging from minor to major. The CHP reported that only three passengers, including an infant in a child carrier, were properly seat belted. No one in the rear seat appeared to be wearing a seat belt.

Cause of the Highway 60 Accident

The CHP stated that the Montero SUV would be inspected and witnesses would be interviewed as part of their investigation. Officers at the scene ruled out alcohol to be a factor in the crash. The Press-Enterprise reports that the two women were traveling on the interstate's southbound lanes at Halloran Springs Road when, apparently, one of the SUVs tires blew, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and rollover several times. The driver of the vehicle and a rear seat passenger died at the scene of the accident. The other passengers were hospitalized and at this time, it is not known what their condition is.

Lake Elsinore Woman Killed in Rollover Accident

rollovercar.jpgSAN BERNARDINO COUNTY - California Highway Patrol investigators reported that an 18-year-old Lake Elsinore woman was tragically killed when her pickup truck rolled over on Interstate 10 just west of Interstate 215 at 4:40 a.m. Monday. After losing control of her truck, the victim was ejected from her vehicle as it rolled over and slammed into a Nissan Sentra driven by a Rialto man. Shortly after the June 27th crash, two other vehicles struck the victim's truck and the vehicle driven by the Rialto man. A 19-year-old San Bernardino woman, who was a passenger in the pickup truck, was taken to Loma Linda Medical Center for treatment of major injuries. The driver of the Nissan sustained minor injuries sin the crash and was also taken to Loma Linda Medical Center for treatment. The condition of the other two drivers is not known.

Pasadena Woman Killed in Solo-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 15

I-15.pngMIRA LOMA - A 51-year-old old Pasadena woman died Monday morning in a solo-vehicle collision on Interstate 15 in Riverside County, just south of the Ontario city limits, the San Bernardino Sun reported. The victim, Alta Marie Chriss, had been driving southbound on I-15 near the 60 Freeway interchange, when for unknown reasons, her vehicle went off the roadway, struck a guardrail, and overturned. Chriss, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was not reported wearing a seat belt and died of her injuries at 8:14 a.m. The cause of the April 11th accident remains under investigation by the CHP-Riverside Office.
