SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY -- A 17-year-old girl and a 2-year-old boy were severely struck by an oncoming vehicle at about 7 p.m. Tuesday, Victorville Daily Press reported. The teenage girl and the young child were hit by a car while they were attempting to cross 7th Street and Desert Knolls Drive in Victorville.
According to spokeswoman Karen Hunt of the Victorville station's Major Accident Investigation Team, the teenager and child were struck by a 62-year-old Moreno Valley man who did not see the girl pushing the boy in a stroller in the crosswalk when he made a left turn from Desert Knolls Drive onto 7th Street.
Following this tragic accident, the pedestrians were airlifted to Loma Linda Medical Center. The teen suffered cuts and scrapes, while the boy sustained a fractured skull. They are currently in stable condition, and their relationship between the two has not been determined.
Cause of the Pedestrian Accident in Victorville
The cause of this December 13th accident remains under investigation by the San Bernardino Sheriff's Department. However, based on the information provided by the Victorville Daily Press, it is unclear why the driver did not see the pedestrians crossing.
