RIVERSIDE COUNTY -- A horrific car crash in Oasis left one person killed and four others injured. According to The Desert Sun, the collision was reported at about 11 a.m. Friday on Highway 86 Expressway at Avenue 81, when the driver of a van ran a stop sign and broadsided a Honda Civic.
Following this tragic two-vehicle crash, the front seat passenger in the van, Paul Liou, 71, of Thailand, was reported to have died due to his injuries at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs. Four other people suffered injuries after the crash and were taken to a hospital for further treatment.
Cause of the Car Accident in Oasis
The accident on November 18th remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol. However, based on limited information provided by The Desert Sun, it is unclear why the driver of the van failed to stop at a stop sign. It is also not evident whether, distracted driving, drugs or alcohol, vehicle malfunctions, and road conditions played a factor in the collision. Hopefully, police officials can determine what happened and who is officially responsible.
