RIVERSIDE COUNTY -- A Cathedral City pedestrian man from was tragically hit and killed by a vehicle on Thanksgiving. According to The Desert Sun, the man, identified as Michael Hersha, 67, was attempting to cross at a crosswalk on Date Palm Drive at Market Place at about 6 a.m. Thursday, when a vehicle severely struck him. Sgt. Scott Sharpe of the Cathedral City police stated the driver tried to brake and turn, but could not avoid hitting Hersha. After the collision, Hersha was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center, where he later died due to his injuries.
Based on the limited information that was provided by The Desert Sun, it is not apparent as to what caused this November 24th crash. Therefore, it impossible to determine who is responsible. Hopefully, the Cathedral City Police Department will come to a conclusion as to what happened and why.
