SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY - California Highway Patrol investigators reported that an 18-year-old Lake Elsinore woman was tragically killed when her pickup truck rolled over on Interstate 10 just west of Interstate 215 at 4:40 a.m. Monday. After losing control of her truck, the victim was ejected from her vehicle as it rolled over and slammed into a Nissan Sentra driven by a Rialto man. Shortly after the June 27th crash, two other vehicles struck the victim's truck and the vehicle driven by the Rialto man. A 19-year-old San Bernardino woman, who was a passenger in the pickup truck, was taken to Loma Linda Medical Center for treatment of major injuries. The driver of the Nissan sustained minor injuries sin the crash and was also taken to Loma Linda Medical Center for treatment. The condition of the other two drivers is not known.
Cause of the Fatal Rollover Accident
Based on the Press-Enterprise news reports, it is not clear what happened to cause the victim to lose control of her truck. Was this rollover accident caused by a malfunctioning brake or defective tire? Hopefully, the CHPs investigation will yield answers as to why this devastating crash occurred.
Wrongful Death Liability
If it is determined that the cause of the pickup truck rollover accident was related to a defective or faulty auto part, the victim's family may be able to hold an auto part manufacturer responsible for the tragic death of their loved one. A skilled Los Angeles wrongful death attorney can review the details of the case and advise the family of their best course of legal action. If eligible, surviving family members may file a wrongful death lawsuit. In addition to bringing some sense of justice to the situation, a wrongful death claim allows surviving family members to pursue monetary compensation from the at-fault party .
