Boating Accident on Colorado River Kills One Person and Severely Injures Two Others

boat.jpgSAN BERNARDINO COUNTY - One woman was tragically killed and two others were seriously injured in a boating accident on the Colorado River June 26th, reports the San Bernardino Sun. According to a San Bernardino County Sheriff's news release, the man operating the boat struck shore for an unknown reason, causing the boat to stop abruptly and eject several of the eight passengers aboard the boat around 10:30 p.m. Sunday night. The boat, which was heading south on the Colorado River near Parker Strip, was traveling between 25 and 35 m.p.h. a 21-year-old woman ejected from the boat sustained serious injuries and was rushed to La Paz Regional Medical Center where she later died. Two other passengers severely injured in the crash were flown to Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix, AZ. The condition of the two injured passengers is not known.

Cause of the Boating Accident

Deputies from the Colorado River Station Marine Enforcement Unit are investigating the cause of the accident and whether alcohol or a boat defect was a contributing factor.
