Cause of the Accident
The cause of the fatal February 8th Colton pedestrian accident is under investigation by the Colton Police Department Traffic Division. Details provided by news accounts are somewhat limited, and it is unclear what exactly happened. This accident occurred in front of a high school, and in a school zone. Police will surely investigate whether the driver of the Honda was speeding or distracted, or if this fatal collision was the result of some other cause.
San Bernardino County Pedestrian Accident Liability
If law enforcement determines that the driver of the Honda is responsible for this fatal pedestrian collision, the driver may be liable for the wrongful death of the pedestrian. While this accident remains under investigation, the family members of the victim would be well-advised to speak with a California wrongful death attorney about the incident and the family's legal rights in a wrongful death claim. An attorney who is experienced in handling fatal pedestrian accidents can advise the family of their legal rights and best course of action to protect them.
