Four People Injured Sunday Night in Pasadena Car Accident
PASADENA - Three people were taken to Huntington Memorial Hospital and one person was taken to Arcadia Methodist Hospital following a two-vehicle collision Sunday night in Pasadena, the Pasadena Star-News reported Monday. The accident was reported at about 7 p.m. at the intersection of Maple Street and Sierra Madre Boulevard, and involved a full-size sedan and a pickup truck. Three of the injured parties were occupants of the pickup truck; the fourth was an occupant of the sedan.

SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY -- A 33-year-old Lawndale man who survived a solo-vehicle collision on Interstate 15 was subsequently struck and killed by another vehicle, the Press-Enterprise reported. According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner, the victim, Ariel Travieso, was northbound on I-15, about two miles north of Dale Evans Parkway, when his vehicle struck black ice and he lost control and struck the center divider. Travieso reportedly got out of his vehicle and was subsequently struck by another vehicle on I-15. He was rushed to St. Mary's Medical Center in Apple Valley, where he died at 9:35 p.m.
LOS ANGELES - A 23-year-old Palmdale woman was very tragically killed late Thursday night in a crash on the 405 Freeway, the LA Weekly and Los Angeles Daily News reported. The victim, Vanessa Fulladosa, was the driver and sole occupant of a Mercedes-Benz that stalled in the fast lane of the 405 Freeway just north of Bellflower Boulevard. Police reported that Fulladosa called 911 to report the location of her vehicle breakdown moments before her vehicle was struck by a 2010 Mitsubishi driven by a 34-year-old Long Beach man. According to police, the driver of the Mitsubishi "failed to observe the 1997 Mercedes stopped in front of him and collided into its rear." The crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
A 72-year-old Colton woman was tragically struck and killed Monday morning in front of Colton High School, the San Bernardino Sun reported. The fatal pedestrian accident occurred on Valley Boulevard, east of Rancho Boulevard, at 7:04 a.m. The victim, Phyllis Wilson, an employee at the school, was crossing Valley Boulevard on her way to work when a 1997 white Honda Civic struck her. Wilson was transported by ambulance to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center where she died.
A toddler suffered a traumatic amputation of his finger Tuesday afternoon in an escalator accident at the Los Angeles Superior Court, Van Nuys Courthouse West. Witnesses told firefighters responding to a 911 call that the victim, a 17-month-old boy had been riding an escalator down from the second floor to the first floor when his left index finger was traumatically amputated in the "comb and groove" of the tread near the bottom exit ramp. Bystanders and on-duty sheriff's deputies activated the emergency stop and the child was not entangled or trapped, although it soon became apparent that his inch-long index finger was missing.
