Smith died at the scene and Ryan was taken to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center with serious injuries. Both the driver and passenger were wearing helmets. The transition road was closed for approximately three hours while officers investigated.

Cause of the Crash and Liability Considerations

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the San Dimas crash. A CHP Sgt. stated that speed did appear to be a factor in the crash. The agency will also look into other possible factors as well, such as motorcycle mechanical malfunction or possibly a dangerous road condition. While this crash remains under investigation, the families of both the 11-year-old boy injured in this crash and the driver of the motorcycle would likely benefit from speaking to an experienced California motorcycle accident lawyer who can arrange to have the motorcycle involved in this crash inspected as well as review other accidents at this same location. An attorney skilled in the unique legal issues of motorcycle accidents can look into all possible causes of this accident and if negligence is a factor in this collision, an attorney can help the victims obtain the compensation they are entitled to.
