A man who died following a solo vehicle crash early Wednesday morning in Downey was identified as Jesus Rovanni Ibarra, 20, of Van Nuys. Ibarra was a passenger in a Porsche Cayenne sport utility vehicle that sheared off a fire hydrant at the intersection of Imperial Highway and Lakewood Boulevard. The accident happened shortly before 1 a.m. Wednesday morning. Police found Ibarra's body on the ground outside the vehicle.
The driver of the Porsche fled the SUV on foot but was later arrested and taken to a hospital. His identity was not released. Downey police are investigating the cause of the accident are trying to figure out what happened.
