A 73-year-old Modesto man died of injuries he suffered after he was struck by a vehicle on Claus Road in Modesto Monday afternoon, authorities reported. William Foltz was riding in the right lane and in the process of crossing to the left turn-lane to turn at the intersection of Claus and Sceneic when he was struck by a pickup truck. According to reports, Foltz, who was wearing a helmet, reportedly put his hand out to signal, but was subsequently struck from behind. He was taken to Memorial Medical Center where he later died.
Fatal Accidents in Stanislaus County
According to reports in the Modesto Bee, the March 22 bicycle accident was the fifth death in the last three months involving a pedestrian or cyclist being struck by a vehicle.
